Five Ways You Can Make an Impact
The National Association of Real Estate Brokers®'s (NAREB) primary mission is to advocate for and ensure equal access to affordable housing and homeownership opportunities for African Americans and other minority communities. The organization seeks to address disparities in homeownership rates and wealth accumulation that exist among different racial and ethnic groups.
1
Become a Member
Consider joining NAREB as a member. NAREB offers membership to real estate professionals, including brokers, agents, appraisers, and other industry stakeholders. As a member, you can gain access to resources, networking opportunities, and educational programs tailored to minority real estate professionals.

2
Attend NAREB Events
Keep an eye out for NAREB events, such as conferences, seminars, workshops, and local chapter meetings. Participating in these events will not only provide valuable education and networking opportunities but also allow you to connect with other like-minded professionals and stay updated on industry trends and advocacy efforts.
3
Join a Committee
NAREB has various committees that focus on specific aspects of its mission, such as homeownership initiatives, education, public policy, and community outreach. Consider volunteering for one or more of these committees based on your interests and expertise. Active participation in committees allows you to contribute directly to NAREB's work and make a meaningful impact.
4
Support Homeownership Programs
NAREB's "Two Million New Black Homeowners in Five Years" initiative aims to increase homeownership rates among African Americans. You can support this program and other homeownership initiatives by volunteering your time, resources, or expertise. This may involve assisting with homebuyer education workshops, mentoring aspiring homeowners, or collaborating with local community organizations.
5
Engage in Advocacy
NAREB actively engages in advocacy efforts to promote fair housing and equal opportunity in the real estate industry. Stay informed about relevant legislative issues and policies affecting minority communities and participate in NAREB's advocacy campaigns. This can include contacting lawmakers, attending hearings or town hall meetings, or sharing information through social media platforms to raise awareness about housing disparities and the need for change.
